August 26, 2010/6 Days Late/RIP James

Yeah, I kind of got sick for a while and forgot to keep posting but I remembered today cuz today is a sad day and a day a rememberance.

On this day, one year ago, there was a women who decided that she was going to have a little too much alcohol to drink. After she drank that alcohol, she decided to get behind the wheel of her car, and the one decision changed the lives of an uncountable amount of people.

"James Short, age 24, of New Philadelphia Ohio (Mar. 18, 1985-Aug 30, 20), was a professional roller blader and musician who was hit by a drunk driver, only a few blocks from his home, while on his motorcycle on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. He died from a head injury on August 30, 2009. Doris Caranda age 48 was the driver, with a blood alcohol level of .221, and bag of marijuana in the car, as well as a prior DUI. (ohio legal limit is .08). He was sponsored by many companies in his career, including Xjsado and Remz skates, 9mm, Ground Control, SIC Apparel, and INRI Cloth. He recorded many original songs and had a CD released posthumously. The James Short Memorial Skate Session is held yearly near the anniversary of his death each August in his area."

This year, I actually got to go to his candle light memorial and I took pictures and left a few candles of my own. James was just my friend in passing but the things that we got to talk about and the impact he left on my life will never leave me the same person I was before. I miss him dearly and wish that one day, when I went back to the skate park, that he would be there, skating around on the ramps. Deeply missed and loved =' ) Life have never been the same since.
